Mission Complete on Two Himalayan Summits, the PPA Expedition Team Returns Home

The Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) Himalaya Expedition Team, having just completed its mission to conquer two Himalayan summits — Island Peak and Mera Peak — arrived back in Indonesia on Sunday morning (23/10). Their plane landed at around 08:50 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, after a 6-hour flight from Kathmandu Airport, Nepal.

The expedition team's return was welcomed in person by PPA President Director Christianto Setyo, PPA Vice President Director Ardi Tirta Tjoa, PPA Director Sujoko Martin, Head of SCM Division Mahendra H Nagayogi, and Head of Corporate Communication Department Adri Thanada.

As is known, the PPA Himalaya Expedition Team began its journey on 17 September 2022. They opened the expedition by conquering Island Peak via the Everest Basecamp route. On 1 October 2022, the PPA expedition team raised the Indonesian flag and the PPA flag on the summit of Island Peak at 6,189 masl at 08:30 local time.

On the next mission, to the summit of Mera Peak, the expedition team ran into bad weather, thick fog and falling snow throughout the journey. Amid that unsettled weather, the PPA team pressed on towards Mera Peak. On Thursday (13/10) at 15:00 local time the expedition team reached High Camp Mera Peak (5,800 masl); with clear weather, the team resumed the climb at 03:00. After 6 hours of climbing the team reached the summit of Mera Peak at 6,476 masl.

With the team's success in conquering two Himalayan summits, it has fully completed the mission set by the company. The expedition itself was carried out as an expression of the company's vision and mission, the company's vision for 2023 being to become the second-largest mining contractor in Indonesia.

Beyond that, the achievement has made PPA the first mining contractor in Asia to send a team and raise the Indonesian flag and the PPA flag on two Himalayan summits.
