PPA Wins an International Award from the World Safety Organization

PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) won international-class recognition in safety from the World Safety Organization (WSO). The award was presented to PPA at the 35th International Safety & Health Symposium, held on 2–4 October 2023 in Odessa, Texas, United States.

The event was attended by, among others, PPA HCGA Director R. Teguh Sapto Subroto, WSO President Director General Alfredo A. De La Rosa, Jr., WSO Chief Executive Officer Perry L. Ballard, and WSO UN Ambassador Jerry F. Cammarata.

WSO is an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in 1975 and admitted to the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) in 1987. Besides its head office in the United States, WSO has representative offices in 21 countries worldwide.

This year's symposium took the theme The Importance of Safety in ESG and was held to widen collaboration and networking opportunities across sectors in safety. The event was also held to build and strengthen skills and professional knowledge, and to raise awareness of the value and impact of "Making Safety a Way of Life… Worldwide".

The event also featured various discussions on Safety & ESG under the theme Professional Development Symposium, Professionalism & Excellence for the Future, presenting a number of speakers from the international Safety & ESG sector, moderated by Dr. Jerry F. Cammarata.

PPA received the award in the Concerned Company/Corporation Award category, judged excellent in implementing safety programmes, with a strong safety track record and community and environmental development programmes.

The award for PPA was received directly by PPA HCGA Director R. Teguh Sapto Subroto, who expressed his appreciation.

"Penghargaan ini merupakan bukti dari komitmen kami melaksanakan kegiatan pertambangan dengan kaidah teknis yang baik dan berkelanjutan guna meninggalkan jejak alam seminimal mungkin dan menciptakan lingkungan kerja sehat dan aman bagi karyawan dan masyarakat. Tak hanya itu PPA juga berkomitmen terus peduli terhadap lingkungan sekitar dan masyarakat," said Teguh after receiving the award.

This international recognition completes the set of awards WSO Indonesia had previously given PPA. In February 2023, PPA received an award at the WSO Indonesia Safety Culture Awards (WISCA) 2023 in the Concerned CEO Awards category for PPA CEO Christianto Setyo.

At the same event, PPA also won the Concerned OSH Mining Award and the Gold 4 Stars Award in the category Who Has Implemented Safety Culture Program within Their Organization. PPA won those awards for upholding its commitment to running occupational health and safety and making it part of the company's culture.

Earlier still, in 2022, the PPA ERT also received the Firefighter Award from the World Safety Organization.
