PPA Wins Platinum at the Indonesia Green Awards 2026 through a Circular Economy Based CSR Programme

PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) won recognition for its commitment to applying the principles of sustainability and environmental management with awards at the Indonesia Green Awards 2026. The awards are held by the La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and are joined by companies from a range of industrial sectors in Indonesia.

At the event, PPA Site Borneo Indobara (BIB) received the La Tofi ESG Rating Medal Score Certificate with a score of 85.46, reflecting the company's positive performance in environmental, social and governance (ESG) terms, with PPA Site BIB HCGA Section Head Shelvy Setia Innda recognised as The Best Sustainability Leader for her role in driving the implementation of sustainability programmes with real impact.

PPA also won the Platinum Ranking Trophy for Alignment Risk High – Action High through PPA Site BIB's flagship CSR programme "Pilah Sampah Plastik Jadi Bermanfaat dan Berkah", in the Plastic Waste Handling and Circular Economy category.

"Program ini adalah bentuk komitmen nyata dari PT Putra Perkasa Abadi terhadap lingkungan sekaligus menjalankan aturan UU Nomor 32 Tahun 2009 tentang perlindungan dan pengelolaan lingkungan hidup, dengan sasaran utama karyawan dan masyarakat luas, dapat terjadi peningkatan kesadaran terhadap kebersihan lingkungan, terjadi pengurangan volume sampah terutama jenis sampah anorganik/ plastik, serta terbangunnya budaya memilah dan mendaur ulang sampah di kalangan karyawan perusahaan dan masyarakat luas," said Noor Akhmad, Dept Head HCGA of Site BIB.

The programme is a plastic waste management initiative run in an integrated way between the company internally, the Environment Office's waste management technical unit, the local main waste bank (BSI) Bang Julpikar's, participants of the Clean Youth Movement action community, and communities around the operating area.

The programme is implemented in stages, from sorting inorganic waste and setting up and strengthening waste banks, through to using shredded plastic as an alternative construction material — replacing split stone in casting pedestrians and foundations, for example. The programme also includes a scheme to exchange plastic waste for staple foods, delivering direct benefit to the community.

The programme's main aims are to raise awareness of the importance of sorting plastic waste at source, reduce the volume of plastic waste ending up in landfill, encourage the use of plastic waste with economic value, and build a sustainable culture of waste management.

Over six months of implementation, the programme collected around 289.3 kilograms of plastic bottle waste from within the company and a total of 2.2 tonnes of waste in Kusan Hilir, South Kalimantan. That plastic waste is then processed into useful material supporting a range of construction activities and other needs. The achievement contributes to reducing the plastic waste sent to the Tanah Bumbu landfill, while delivering economic benefit to the community through the waste-for-staples exchange.

Through this CSR programme, PPA is judged to have shown a concrete commitment to environmental management. The programme is not only effective in curbing the growth of plastic waste but also delivers sustainable social and economic impact for the community and employees, and supports the Ministry of Environment's target of a 30% community-based reduction in waste.
