Developing the communities around operational areas is an important foundation for creating sustainability in the mining industry. Beyond its focus on operational performance, PPA Group continues to encourage the creation of an independent and inclusive local economic ecosystem together with the communities around its sites. That effort has again been recognised at the Nusantara CSR Awards 2026, for empowerment programmes with real impact.
The awards were presented at the Nusantara CSR Awards 2026, held by the La Tofi School of Social Responsibility at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta on 8 April 2026.
PT Putra Perkasa Abadi Jobsite Adaro Indonesia won a National Nusantara CSR Awards 2026 award with a score of 88.00 and a Platinum Alignment rating in the Community Economic Resilience and Value Chain category, for its UMKM Perkasa programme: Strengthening the Local Economy through MSME Empowerment.
The programme mentors 16 local MSMEs, addressing needs in financial management, business planning and effective marketing strategy — gaps that had left their products with weak competitiveness in an increasingly competitive market, despite Tabalong Regency's considerable local economic potential.
Through the programme, MSME operators build competence in running their businesses professionally, independently and sustainably: simple bookkeeping, strategy-based business planning and data-driven business decisions. The MSMEs also receive training support in improving product packaging quality and marketing. The support is ongoing, including monitoring and evaluation of each MSME's progress, so that its strategic, quality-oriented impact can continue.
The programme supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
"Ke depannya, legacy PPA ini diharapkan dapat terus bersinergi dengan masyarakat dan memberikan nilai tambah berkelanjutan untuk masyarakat," said Singgih Prananda, HCGA Section Head at PPA Jobsite Adaro.
PT Antareja Mahada Makmur Jobsite Vale Indonesia, meanwhile, won a National Nusantara CSR Awards 2026 award with a score of 94.85 and a Platinum Alignment rating in the Community Resilience and Economy & Value Chain category, for its Mitra Mahalona programme: A Local Community Partnership Model for Building Economic Resilience in Mahalona Village. The programme was named a CEPI Champion Candidate — Zero Cost, High Impact Program, judged to have protected around Rp3,383,366,400 in economic value exposed to the company's operational risk. The assessment uses the La Tofi ESG Rating methodology reinforced by the Corporate Economic Protection Index (CEPI), an instrument that measures how much economic value a company has protected through well-targeted social mitigation.
In addition, Akhmad Maulana Ibrahim, Operational Manager (PJO) of AMM Site Vale, received a Platinum Leader Performance rating with a score of 92.90 and was named among Indonesia's 100 Best Programme Managers 2026.
"Kami akan terus berupaya untuk berinovasi dalam menerapkan program-program CSR berkelanjutan, memberi manfaat positif bagi masyarakat terdampak sesuai dengan kaidah-kaidah ESG dan pengembangan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang baik. Pembuktiannya seharusnya bukan hanya datang dari piagam tapi juga dampak positif bagi masyarakat," said Akhmad after the event.
The programme is proof that the mining industry can be genuinely inclusive towards communities in business and in economic strengthening. The Mitra Mahalona programme turns residents' housing into company employee camps, paying up to Rp1.2 billion a year, and supports catering businesses sourced entirely from local produce and staffed by local residents, with catering turnover reaching Rp6.8 billion a year. Together this generates local economic impact of roughly Rp8 billion a year. Socially, the programme opens up new business opportunities for the community, improves people's ability to run a business, and creates a harmonious relationship and a less unequal prosperity between the company and the community.
The programme meets several SDG targets: SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
PPA Group is committed to continually innovating and driving community economic empowerment to achieve local economic development that is sustainable, inclusive and independent.
