Towards Green Mining from Tanah Bumbu, the PPA Electrification Expo Marks a Concrete Step in Mining Transformation with BIB

In a mining industry whose every part is in constant motion, PT Putra Perkasa Abadi (PPA) Group has chosen not merely to follow the direction of the times but to help shape the industry for the better. That commitment took form in the PPA Electrification Expo, part of PT Borneo Indobara's Ceremony of Electrification Green Mining Realization on 7–9 February 2026. It is a concrete step by PPA Group in driving green mining — more environmentally friendly and sustainable mining practice. The event was held in the operational area of PT Borneo Indobara (BIB) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan, alongside PT Borneo Indobara's anniversary celebration.

For PPA Group, green mining is not simply a concept discussed and planned on paper but a long process demanding the courage to change, a readiness to invest in technology, and a commitment to more responsible operations. Through the PPA Electrification Expo, PPA Group showed how heavy equipment electrification technology can be part of the answer to the energy transition challenge in the mining sector, without sacrificing productivity, reliability or workplace safety.

The event became a meeting point for ideas, technology and field practice. PPA Group gave industry players the chance to see electric and hybrid mining equipment first-hand, along with its application in a real operational environment. A number of national and international mining companies were invited, among them PT Multi Harapan Utama, PT MIFA Bersaudara, BANPU Public Company Ltd, PT Makmur Lestari Primatama, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk, PT Adaro MIP, PT Adaro AMI, PT Indexim Coalindo, PT Bukit Asam Tbk and PT Kideco Jaya Agung. Their presence reflects the spirit of collaboration that is an essential foundation for driving change in the mining industry.

PT Putra Perkasa Abadi President Director Joko Triraharjo said the application of hybrid technology has now become a real operational need in mining.

"PPA melihat tren elektrifikasi dan teknologi hybrid bukan lagi sebagai wacana masa depan, tetapi sebagai kebutuhan operasional hari ini. Kehadiran SRT100S merupakan bagian dari komitmen kami untuk menghadirkan solusi hauling yang lebih hemat energi, lebih efisien secara biaya, dan tetap andal dalam mendukung produktivitas," he said.

Across 7–9 February 2026, the PPA Electrification Expo showcased a range of technological innovations and electric and hybrid mining equipment from PPA's various subsidiaries, as a first step towards integrating environmentally friendly technology into day-to-day operations. Through this approach, PPA Group aims to improve energy efficiency, cut emissions and consistently strengthen the application of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.

That commitment continued in the pit area of PT PPA Site PT BIB with the launch and operational demonstration of the SRT 100 S-Hybrid Mining Dump Truck, running until 17 February 2026.

Together with Star Wagen Indonesia (SWI), member of PPA Group, the demonstration showed how hybrid technology can work reliably on challenging mining terrain. It gave a concrete illustration that environmentally friendly innovation is relevant not only as a concept but also in supporting productivity and workplace safety in the field. In terms of capacity, the SANY SRT100S has a nominal payload of up to 95 tonnes with a vessel volume of 70 cubic metres — the largest in its class. That large capacity combined with fuel efficiency offers the potential to lower the cost per tonne of material hauled while improving the effectiveness of the hauling work cycle.

Safety was also a primary concern in the unit's design. The SRT100S comes with a cabin built to the global FOPS/ROPS standard to protect the operator, along with an electric retarder braking system and a wet brake system designed to maintain stability and safety, particularly when operating on downhill routes at full load.

PT Star Wagen Indonesia President Director Fathul Muin said the SRT100S was developed as a solution ready for field application.

"SANY SRT100S kami hadirkan sebagai solusi transisi yang aplikatif, sehingga operasi tambang dapat berjalan lebih efisien, lebih aman, dan lebih adaptif terhadap perkembangan teknologi ke depan," he said.
